Every year towards the end of May, our herd is shorn.  Their beautiful fleece, which keeps them warm in winter and cool for the summer, is carefully removed, and bagged up in order of quality I.e. firsts, seconds, thirds.  We meticulously check each fleece and send only the best for processing into yarn at a mini-mill. The fleeces for each animal are processed separately and so when we receive back the beautifully spun yarns we know from which of our herd each cone of yarn came. We can then use to make our woven products.

All products have been woven on a ‘rigid heddle loom’ which is fairly basic but at the same time hugely versatile, allowing different patterns to be created in the same piece.  We love the natural colours of alpaca fibre but also love to individually dye batches of yarn to create a wide range of ‘non-natural’ different colours.
